Baseball Recap: Valmeyer Comes Up Short

Valmeyer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against North Clay/Clay City, falling 11-1. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as North Clay/Clay City apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2017.

Valmeyer saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Snyder, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Snyder has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Valmeyer's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for North Clay/Clay City, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-3 record this season.

Valmeyer has already played their next matchup, a 5-2 loss against Farina South Central on the 2nd. As for North Clay/Clay City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 20-4 victory against Centralia on the 2nd.
