Izard County had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Salem Greyhounds. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since April 24, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Xander McCandlis, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Braxton Mccandlis also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Izard County pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Salem, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.
