Baseball Game Preview: Box Elder Bees vs. West Field Longhorns

For the second straight game, Box Elder will face off against West Field. The Bees will take on the Longhorns at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Box Elder has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

West Field hit Box Elder with a five-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bees lost 12-1 to the Longhorns. The Bees have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For West Field's part, Bryce Bagby tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Bagby has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, West Field got a massive performance out of Wyatt Penrod, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Brady Penland, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.

West Field lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2025.

West Field has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Box Elder, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.
