Shafeeq Mujahideen commands the offense for Mustangs win

The Lamar Consolidated Mustangs came into Friday's contest having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They strolled past Fort Bend Willowridge with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 67-51. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Lamar Consolidated also won the last time the pair played back in January.

Lamar Consolidated's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shafeeq Mujahideen led the charge by scoring 16 points along with five assists and three steals. Mujahideen is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Lockett, who scored 12 points.

Fort Bend Willowridge lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jakari Nettles, who scored nine points along with six assists and four steals. Nettles has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last five times he's played. Henry Eze was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Lamar Consolidated's victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-18. As for Fort Bend Willowridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-20 record this season.

Lamar Consolidated will be playing at home against Fort Bend Kempner at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lamar Consolidated has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Fort Bend Willowridge, they will head out on the road to take on Fort Bend Marshall at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Bend Marshall will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Fort Bend Willowridge surely won't give up without a fight.
