Softball Game Preview: Fontana Steelers vs. Notre Dame Titans

Fontana is 0-6 against Notre Dame since March of 2022 but things could change on Wednesday. The Steelers will look to defend their home field against the Titans at 3:45 p.m. This will be Fontana's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.

Fontana blew Bethel Christian out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Bethel Christian got their revenge. The Steelers fell just short of the Kings by a score of 4-2. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Steelers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Notre Dame ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Rim of the World 7-6. The win continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with the Fighting Scots: they've now won eight in a row.

Mikey Rodriguez spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Teresa Avila, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Summer Wilbur, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Fontana's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Notre Dame, the victory got them back to even at 7-7-1.
