Basketball Recap: Bishop Verot Skates Past Community School of Naples with Ease

Bishop Verot entered their tilt with Community School of Naples on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They claimed a resounding 69-18 victory over the Community School of Naples Seahawks. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while the Seahawks are ranked 543rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Bishop Verot to victory were Caroline Ward and Cameron O'Halloran. Ward went 8 for 11 on her way to 21 points and three steals, while O'Halloran went 7 of 17 en route to 21 points along with six assists and three steals. Ward's evening made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Gwen Pfleger was another key player, putting up seven points and eight boards.

Bishop Verot smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Bishop Verot has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.1 points per game. As for Community School of Naples, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Bishop Verot will face off against Neumann at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Bishop Verot has won five straight at home, while Neumann won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Community School of Naples, they and Oasis will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played.
