Basketball Recap: Chase Comes Up Short

Chase lost against Otis-Bison back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Chase Kats took a blow against the Otis-Bison Cougars, falling 68-19. The Kats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-14.

They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Carlos Rincon and Layton Winkelman, who each put up six points. Malik Carson held things down on the boards with six rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Otis-Bison to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ismael Cortez, who posted 12 points. The dominant performance gave Cortez a new career-high in points. Jake Hoopingarner was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Chase dropped their record down to 1-16 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Otis-Bison, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-10.

Chase wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 59-25 loss against LaCrosse on the 11th. As for Otis-Bison, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-41 victory against St. John on the 11th.
