Basketball Recap: Wagon Mound Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Wagon Mound can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 62-43 win over the New Mexico School for the Deaf Roadrunners. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 61-39 back in January.

Wagon Mound got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Eugene Armijo out in front who posted 19 points. Armijo's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Josiah Vasquez, who had 19 points.

New Mexico School for the Deaf lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Santiago Lopez, who earned 13 points along with six boards and five assists. Zion Holmes was another key player, putting up 15 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Wagon Mound's record now sits at 5-15. As for New Mexico School for the Deaf, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.

Coincidentally, Wagon Mound and New Mexico School for the Deaf will both be playing Springer the next time they take the court. Wagon Mound will head out to face Springer at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, while New Mexico School for the Deaf will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
