Volleyball Recap: St. Francis Victorious

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only St. Francis walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the JSerra Catholic Lions 3-2 on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Golden Knights.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day St. Francis got the one that really mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 23-25, 25-20, 19-25, 15-13.

Despite the loss, JSerra Catholic still got an impressive performance from Darren Chi, who had 29 digs and three assists. Chi is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 11 or more in each of the last seven games he's played. Wan Chau (Joey) Cai also deserves some recognition as he had his first kill of the season.

St. Francis' win bumped their record up to 20-7. As for JSerra Catholic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-8 record this season.

After both having extra time off, St. Francis and El Segundo will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. JSerra Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
