Basketball Recap: Easley Green Wave vs. Greenwood Eagles
Easley played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Greenwood Eagles 66-39. While losing is never fun, the Green Wave can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Eagles are ranked 47th).
Easley's loss came despite strong showings from Josalynn Gamble and Camora Little. Gamble went 5 for 10 on her way to 12 points and five rebounds, while Little posted eight points in addition to seven boards and five steals.
Greenwood got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Danielle Oliver out in front who went 12 of 19 on her way to 29 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which Oliver has scored at least a third of Greenwood's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tykirea Johnson, who went 9 of 18 on her way to 20 points along with eight boards and five steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Easley and nudges their season record down to 2-8. As for Greenwood, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Easley will head out to face off against Mauldin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Greenwood, they will welcome Greenville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Greenwood is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.3 points per game this season.
