After a string of three wins, the Southside Christian Patriots's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a serious blow against Bible Baptist Christian, falling 86-58. While losing is never fun, Southside Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 400th, while Bible Baptist Christian is ranked 73rd).
Bible Baptist Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaquayvion Gilmore led the charge by dropping a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds. The game was Gilmore's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Alano Doreste, who scored 19 points along with 8 assists and 7 rebounds.
Southside Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Bible Baptist Christian, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Southside Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Faith Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Faith Christian Academy is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Bible Baptist Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Crossroads Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crossroads Christian Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
