Preview: Mahanoy Area Golden Bears vs. Nativity BVM Green Wave
Mahanoy Area has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against The Nativity BVM Green Wave at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Mahanoy Area earned a 27-20 win over Tri-Valley.
Colm McGroarty had a dynamite game for Mahanoy Area, rushing for 184 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.7 yards per carry. McGroarty is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. Mahanoy Area also got help from Ethan Manley who showed off his sure hands for 98 receiving yards.
Nativity BVM fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 32-19 win over Shenandoah Valley on Friday.
Mahanoy Area's victory on Thursday bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Nativity BVM, their win on Friday bumped their record up to 5-3.
Everything came up roses for Mahanoy Area against Nativity BVM in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 34-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mahanoy Area since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
