Basketball Recap: Shawnee Find Success

Van Wert came into Thursday's contest looking for another win against Shawnee, but Cadence Wilson wouldn't allow it. The Shawnee Indians came out on top against the Van Wert Cougars by a score of 49-37 on Thursday thanks to Wilson, who went 11-for-18 to rack up 27 points and six rebounds. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Ava Gadson was another key player, putting up four points in addition to five assists and five boards. That's the most assists she has posted since back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Van Wert saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jazzlyn Florence earned 15 points.
