Baseball Recap: Central Victorious

While Central's win against Hudson wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Central Bears came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hudson Cobras on Tuesday, sneaking past 2-1. That's two games straight that the Bears have won by just one run.

Ryan Engley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Engley wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tristan King, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Central is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. Hudson is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central will welcome Fivay at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hudson, they will host Nature Coast Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
