The Rockwall Yellowjackets will venture away from home to face off against the Mansfield Legacy Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Mansfield Legacy will be up against a hot Rockwall squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went the Yellowjackets' way against North Forney on Thursday as they made off with an 11-1 win.
Meanwhile, while Mansfield Legacy put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Lake Ridge. The Broncos were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Eagles. The Broncos have beaten the Eagles the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Eagles has come to flipping the script.
Natalie Moreaux made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
In other batting news, Hope Gaudio was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Erin Morris, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double.
Mansfield Legacy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in 13 consecutive matches.
Mansfield Legacy pushed their record up to 22-5 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Rockwall, the victory got them back to even at 14-14.
Rockwall might still be hurting after the 12-4 defeat they got from Mansfield Legacy in their previous matchup back in February. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
