Softball Recap: Blue Mountain Takes Down Ranked Richford

Blue Mountain faced Richford in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Bucks put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 15-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Bucks, who have now won five games by 12 runs or more so far this season.

Kaylee Hamlett made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Ava Kingsbury was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Addison Murray, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and one double.

Blue Mountain's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Richford, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blue Mountain will head out to square off against Winooski at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Richford, they will challenge Williamstown at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.
