3A Mid-State recap Sept. 26, 2012
Rockingham County scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Western Alamance, 27-20. At the time, the Warriors was ranked 23rd in the state, while the Cougars was 96th.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Western Alamance, who took down 23rd ranked Western Alamance, 27-20.
T.J. Logan was the most productive running back in 3A Mid-State this week. He ran for 218 yards on 17 carries as Northern Guilford fell to Northern Guilford. Teammate Chris Ripberger added to the ground attack by rushing for 96 yards.
Kirby was the best wideout in the league this week as the Eagles fell to the Nighthawks. Kirby racked up three receptions for 82 yards. Malik Wilson helped Eastern Alamance's passing attack out by catching two balls for 62 yards.
JACKSON HARTE put up the best numbers through the air as McMichael lost to Williams. He finished with six completions for 114 yards and two touchdowns. HARTE's favorite target this week was DYLAN DANIELS, who caught four passes for 62 yards.
5-foot-9 quarterback Josh Long of Eastern Alamance is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1143. He has also thrown 17 touchdowns. On the ground, Northern Guilford's Logan has rushed for 886 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is DAKOTA HOPPER. The McMichael star has 24 catches for 449 yards.
A big matchup in 3A Mid-State this week will be when Rockingham County takes on the Bulldogs. Lin Stadler's team is in fourth place, while Williams is in second place.
Johnny Roscoe's team extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating John Kirby's team, 49-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
