Baseball Recap: St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy Comes Up Short

St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 5-14 in the process. They came up short against the Mary Star of the Sea Stars, falling 13-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Stars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 on April 2nd.

Ceejay Perez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

As for Mary Star of the Sea, they moved to 11-9 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. The result was nothing new for the Stars, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

On Mary Star of the Sea's side, Mathias Reynolds was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Reynolds is becoming a predictor of the Stars' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-9 when he doesn't). Richard Bautista also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Coming up, St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy will be playing at home against Hoover at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tornados have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.33 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mary Star of the Sea, they will venture away from home to square off against North at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
