Soccer Game Preview: Excelsior Charter vs. University Prep

Excelsior Charter hasn't had much luck against University Prep recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Excelsior Charter Eagles will host the University Prep Jaguars at 3:00 p.m.

Excelsior Charter is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They were one goals away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy.

Meanwhile, University Prep waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Silver Knights onto the board and left with a 2-0 victory. The Jaguars' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three contests.

Sebastian Verd?n and Daniel Yi scored both of University Prep's goals, bringing their combined season tally to ten goals.

University Prep has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 23 goals over those eight matchups. As for Excelsior Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

Excelsior Charter suffered a grim 10-2 defeat to University Prep in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Excelsior Charter avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
