Basketball Game Preview: Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers vs. Daniel Lions

Blue Ridge and Daniel are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2022, but not for long. The Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Daniel Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Daniel will be up against a hot Blue Ridge squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. Blue Ridge blew past Berea 58-36 on Friday. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Fighting Tigers had established a 21 point advantage.

It was another big night for Opal Maralit, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards. The contest was her fourth in a row with at least 15 points. Talia Maxwell was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.

Blue Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Daniel waltzed into their match on Friday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Devildogs 67-29. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-14.

Daniel's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32.7 points. As for Blue Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 18-5.

Blue Ridge suffered a grim 53-28 defeat to Daniel in their previous meeting back in January. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Blue Ridge was down 32-12.
