Softball Game Preview: Old Forge Blue Devils vs. Riverside Vikings

The Old Forge Blue Devils will challenge the Riverside Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Riverside took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Old Forge, who comes in off a win.

Old Forge came out on top against Lakeland on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Blue Devils put the hurt on the Chiefs with a sharp 13-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won 11 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Kamryn Notari made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Notari was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Old Forge got a massive performance out of Ava Arnold, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Juliette DeStefano, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Riverside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Mid Valley, falling 14-1. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Vikings couldn't push the score so high this time.

Old Forge has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Riverside, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.

Everything went Old Forge's way against Riverside in their previous matchup back in April, as Old Forge made off with a 16-9 win. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
