Baseball Game Preview: Choate Rosemary Hall School Wild Boars vs. Kingswood Oxford Wyverns

The Choate Rosemary Hall School Wild Boars will head out on the road to challenge the Kingswood Oxford Wyverns at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Choate Rosemary Hall School took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over Westminster School. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wild Boars as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Kingswood Oxford had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with an 11-6 win over the Pride. With that victory, the Wyverns brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Hunter Anastasio looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single hit and allowed only two earned runs while striking out six over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Boden Swanson was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. John Sokale was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Kingswood Oxford lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Choate Rosemary Hall School's record now sits at 2-4. As for Kingswood Oxford, their record is now 4-1.

Choate Rosemary Hall School came out on top in a nail-biter against Kingswood Oxford in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wild Boars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
