Baseball Game Preview: Chatham Cougars vs. Montville Mustangs

Chatham is on a six-game streak of home losses, and Montville a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. The Chatham Cougars will be playing at home against the Montville Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Montville took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Chatham, who comes in off a win.

Chatham is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Sparta with a sharp 10-3 win on Wednesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Montville came up short against Delbarton on Wednesday and fell 8-3.

Montville saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Richie Mattina, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Montville's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Chatham, their win bumped their record up to 4-10.

Chatham couldn't quite get it done against Montville in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 7-4. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
