Softball Recap: Bloomington North Takes a Loss

Bloomington North dropped their record down to 4-3 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Martinsville Artesians, falling 13-7. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 5-4 to the Artesians when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Grayson Gill and Jocelyn Parrish stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gill got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs and one double, while Parrish went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That double was Parrish's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kaydence Silvers, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Martinsville, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-5. The result was nothing new for the Artesians, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

On Martinsville's side, the team relied heavily on Mylee Jarrett, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave Jarrett a new career-high. Adison Ford was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Bloomington North will be playing in front of their home fans against Noblesville at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Millers' pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Martinsville, they will head out to take on Plainfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
