Basketball Recap: Genesee Comes Up Short

Genesee played a tough matchup on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 65-23 loss at the hands of the Vassar Vulcans. The loss continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Vulcans: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the loss, Genesee still got an impressive performance from Brandon Rouse, who posted nine points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Austin Long was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 21 points and ten assists for Vassar. Long also grabbed five steals, which is notable because Vassar is undefeated when he posts at least five steals, but 4-13 otherwise. Trevor Gleeson was another key player, going 6-for-8 en route to 17 points.

Genesee's defeat dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Vassar, their win bumped their record up to 8-13.

Coming up, Genesee won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Byron at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Vassar, they will host Laker at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
