Softball Recap: Streetsboro Takes a Loss

After flying high against Cloverleaf on Monday, Streetsboro came back down to earth. The Rockets fell 7-2 to the St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish on Tuesday.

Streetsboro saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mallorie Gierke, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Streetsboro's loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for St. Vincent-St. Mary, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-13 record this season.

Streetsboro and St. Vincent-St. Mary are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Rockets will welcome Orange at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Streetsboro's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 10.1 runs per game this season. As for St. Vincent-St. Mary, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Cloverleaf at 5:00 p.m. The Colts have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.87 runs per game on average), something the Fighting Irish will no doubt try to take advantage of.
