Baseball Game Preview: Dobson Mustangs vs. Mesa Jackrabbits

For the second straight game, Dobson will face off against Mesa. The Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Jackrabbits at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.

Dobson easily dispatched West Point on Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Mustangs fell just short of Mesa by a score of 9-7 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Mustangs have suffered since March 19, 2024.

For Mesa's part, they saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Gilmore, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Gilmore a new career-high.

The victory snapped Mesa's losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 3-14 record. As for Dobson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.
