Basketball Recap: West Orange Falls Short Against Ranked Chatham

On Tuesday, West Orange faced Chatham in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The West Orange Mountaineers fell just short of the Chatham Cougars by a score of 53-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Mountaineers have suffered since January 15, 2024.

West Orange's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kyley Gary-Grayson, who posted 17 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Gary-Grayson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Anaya Karriem was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds.

West Orange's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-5. As for Chatham, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 16-0.
