Baseball Recap: Rockbridge County Takes a Loss

Rockbridge County had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 7-10 to make it four. They lost 8-1 to the East Rockingham Eagles. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for East Rockingham, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games.

For East Rockingham's part, Anders Yancey looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Yancey has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Will Eppard, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI and one stolen base. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Grayson Hammer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
