Softball Recap: Jackson's Undefeated Season over After Nine Games

Jackson fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Hillsboro on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Indians by a score of 10-8. The Ironman/Ironladies haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Serenity Taylor spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and five unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lillie Eberts made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Wright, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Having lost for the first time this season, Jackson fell to 8-1. As for Hillsboro, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Looking ahead, Jackson will square off against Fairland at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hillsboro, they will head out on the road to square off against Logan Elm at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
