Baseball Game Preview: Scotts Valley Falcons vs. Leigh Longhorns

The Scotts Valley Falcons will venture away from home to challenge the Leigh Longhorns at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Scotts Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Scotts Valley got the win against San Lorenzo Valley by a conclusive 13-2. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Lukas Bloom was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Scotts Valley's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 9-14 when he doesn't). Isaac Martin was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Leigh didn't have quite enough to beat Branham on Friday and fell 6-5.

Scotts Valley's victory bumped their record up to 12-14. As for Leigh, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-6.

Scotts Valley beat Leigh 4-1 when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Longhorns turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
