Softball Recap: North Surry Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for North Surry's offense. They fell just short of the West Stokes Wildcats by a score of 2-0 on Friday. The Greyhounds have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Addison Hawks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

North Surry's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for West Stokes, their victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-4.

Looking ahead, North Surry will venture away from home to face off against Surry Central at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Golden Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.53 runs per game on average), something the Greyhounds will no doubt try to take advantage of. West Stokes does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
