Elliot Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of Stockton Christian. On the bright side, the eight- run performance marked Elliot Christian's highest-scoring match to date.

Emiliano Zapata was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Zapata was also big at the plate, scoring a run.

Zapata wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Justus Tokheim, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Andrew Flanigan also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Elliot Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Stockton Christian, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-9.

While Elliot Christian had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
