Basketball Game Preview: Greater Cabarrus S Stallions vs. Christ the King Crusaders

Greater Cabarrus S is 1-8 against Christ the King since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Greater Cabarrus S Stallions are taking a road trip to challenge the Christ the King Crusaders at 5:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Greater Cabarrus S is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Legion Collegiate Academy on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Greater Cabarrus S took a blow against Legion Collegiate Academy, falling 88-11. While losing is never fun, the Stallions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 462nd in North Carolina, while the Lancers are ranked 30th in South Carolina).

Meanwhile, Christ the King entered their match against Lincoln Charter on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Christ the King fell 64-54 to Lincoln Charter. While the Crusaders didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Eagles 11-6 in the first quarter.

Christ the King suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 16-5. As for Greater Cabarrus S, their loss dropped their record down to 7-20.

Greater Cabarrus S was taken down by Christ the King 58-30 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Greater Cabarrus S avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
