Baseball Recap: Chaparral Takes a Loss

Chaparral extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 11-8 in the process. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Great Oak Wolfpack. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolfpack this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 on Monday.

Chaparral saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody Harkey, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was Harkey's first of the season.

As for Great Oak, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-13. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games.

On Great Oak's side, Riley Kronenfeld tossed a big game, striking out 12 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave Kronenfeld a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sam Pink, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Dylan Carrion was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.

While Chaparral had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
