Soccer Recap: Pickens Comes Up Short

While it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Pickens was not quite Travelers Rest's equal in the second half on Thursday. They fell just short of the Devildogs by a score of 1-0. Pickens were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Travelers Rest earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

Pickens was without their leading scorer, Adelyn Jewell, in Thursday's game. With Jewell sitting this one out, Audrey Mengel got some extra time on the pitch (80 vs. her season average of 32.5).

Pickens has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10-1 record this season. As for Travelers Rest, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-11.

As of now, neither Pickens nor the Devildogs have any future games scheduled.
