Softball Recap: West Sabine Gets the Win

West Sabine came out on top against Waskom on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Tigers took their game against the Wildcats 7-2. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Katie Lindow was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). Lindow was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abby Quick, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Brenya Mohr was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

West Sabine has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs this season. As for Waskom, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

West Sabine has already played their next matchup, a 5-5 draw against Harleton on the 12th. As for Waskom, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 14-2 defeat against Shelbyville on the 13th.
