Football Recap: Bishop Diego Starts Season with Win on the Road

Bishop Diego had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They had just enough and edged out the Lancaster Eagles 42-40. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Eagles are ranked 315th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bishop Diego's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tua Puailoa Rojas led the charge by throwing for 258 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also punching in one rushing score. A healthy portion of Puailoa Rojas' aerial production (108 yards to be exact) went to Samuel Crawford, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop Diego will venture away from home to face off against West Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lancaster, they will head out to take on Newport Harbor at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
