Baseball Recap: Abbott RVT Extends Winning Streak to Three

Abbott RVT waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Wilcox RVT Wildcats. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Tyler Waterbury made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. He is becoming a predictor of Abbott RVT's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 8-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Jake Farrell was excellent, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run. Starling Garcia also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Abbott RVT's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Wilcox RVT, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Abbott RVT will face off against University at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wilcox RVT, they will venture away from home to square off against Wright Tech at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
