Basketball Recap: Crawfordsville Falls Despite Big Games from Alec Saidian and Mason Mccarty

After a string of three wins, Crawfordsville's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 56-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Southmont Mounties. The Athenians were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mounties earlier this season, when they won 56-52.

Despite the defeat, Crawfordsville had strong showings from Mason McCarty, who posted 20 points, and Alec Saidian, who earned eight points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Those 20 points gave McCarty a new career-high.

Vince Reimondo was his usual excellent self, putting up 12 points and three steals for Southmont. Aaron Mcmasters was another key player, posting ten points.

Crawfordsville's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Southmont, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crawfordsville will head out to take on Frankfort at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Crawfordsville is facing Frankfort at the right time seeing as Frankfort is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Southmont, they will head out on the road to face off against Lebanon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southmont is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.4 points per game this season.
