Basketball Recap: Canal Winchester Takes a Loss

Canal Winchester played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 72-39 defeat at the hands of the Newark Wildcats. The loss continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost five in a row.

Canal Winchester's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Newark, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-3.

Canal Winchester will take on Reynoldsburg at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Reynoldsburg knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Canal Winchester likes a good challenge. As for Newark, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Newark Wildcats take on the Pickerington Central Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pickerington Central will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Newark surely won't give up without a fight.
