Soccer Game Preview: Franklin vs. Greendale

The Franklin Sabers will venture away from home to challenge the Greendale Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Greendale took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Franklin, who comes in off a win.

Franklin will bounce into Wednesday's match after beating Kenosha Tremper, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Sabers' defense stepped up to hand the Trojans a 4-0 shutout on Tuesday. Franklin might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by three goals or more this season.

They hit Kenosha Tremper with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Dusan Novakovich, Nikita Athens, Colby Kamlay, and Andrew Bergdolt.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 1-1 at halftime, Greendale was not quite New Berlin Eisenhower's equal in the second half on Monday. They fell 3-1 to the Lions. Greendale's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

The victory made it two in a row for Franklin and bumps their season record up to 10-2-3. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two matchups. As for Greendale, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Everything went Franklin's way against Greendale when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as Franklin made off with a 6-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sabers since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
