Softball Game Preview: Liberty Eagles vs. Delavan Panthers

The Liberty Eagles will take on the Delavan Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Liberty is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Pleasant Hill 3-1.

Chandler John spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Camdyn Ormond was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Claire Obert, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Delavan lost 15-2 to PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central last Friday. The Panthers have struggled against the Bluejays recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Delavan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lainey Klokkenga, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Delavan's loss dropped their record down to 12-16. As for Liberty, their win bumped their record up to 23-5.
