Volleyball Game Preview: West Valley Mustangs vs. Tahquitz Titans

The West Valley Mustangs will head out to square off against the Tahquitz Titans at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

West Valley lost 3-0 to Elsinore on Wednesday. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

West Valley was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-10, 25-20.

Despite their loss, West Valley saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Carlvin Valdez, who had eight digs and two aces, was perhaps the best of all. Valdez has been hot, having also posted 16 or more assists the last six times he's played. Diego Allievi was another key player, getting 11 kills and eight digs.

Meanwhile, Tahquitz was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They came up short against San Jacinto, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Titans have suffered against the Tigers since March 31, 2022.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-11, 25-16.

Tahquitz's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for West Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.

West Valley skirted past Tahquitz 1-0 in their previous matchup back in February. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Valley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
