Basketball Recap: Fort White Indians vs. Eastside Rams

After flying high against Keystone Heights last Monday, Fort White came back down to earth. The Fort White Indians fell 53-43 to the Eastside Rams on Saturday. The Indians lost against the Rams in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 57-21 score last time.

Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ya'Zuri Hollie, who made all 7 shots she took racking up 16 points and three steals. That was a full 37.2% of Fort White's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Isreal Hart, who made all 5 shots she took for 16 points along with four blocks and three steals.

Eastside found their leader in freshman Asiya McDonald, who made all 7 shots she took to post 19 points. That's the most points McDonald has posted since back in December of 2024. Akira Martin was another key player, as she made all 6 shots she took racking up 12 points.

Fort White's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Eastside, the win got them back to even at 10-10.

Fort White wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 54-18 victory against Bell on the 6th. As for Eastside, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-40 win against North Marion on the 6th.
