Terra Linda is 1-9 against Novato since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Trojans will square off against the Hornets at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with 16 losses in a row, Terra Linda turned things around against Branson on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Bulls 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Trojans have posted since May 6, 2024.
Meanwhile, Novato entered their tilt with Sonoma Valley on Saturday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They blew past the Dragons 7-1. Considering the Hornets have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Gio Castaing made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Castaing was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other pitching news, Scott Rios looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Trevor Cleary was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Cash Campbell, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Novato pushed their record up to 14-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Terra Linda, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-13 and their overall record up to 4-17.
Terra Linda came up short against Novato in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 5-0. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
