Preview: Jones County Coyotes vs. Burke Cougars
The Jones County Coyotes will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Burke Cougars at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. Jones County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Even though Stanley County scored an imposing 79 points on Tuesday, Jones County still came out on top. Jones County had just enough and edged Stanley County out 82-79. Jones County's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
It was another big night for Cooper Feddersen, who dropped a double-double on 43 points and 18 rebounds. The matchup was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Kinsley, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Burke had to endure a four-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 65-54 victory over Scotland on Tuesday. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Burke has managed all season.
Jones County's record now sits at 3-1. Burke's record now sits at 1-3.
Jones County came up short against Burke in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 47-42. Can Jones County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
