The Columbia Central Lions had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.3 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They secured a 40-35 W over Goodpasture Christian. Given Columbia Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Goodpasture Christian is ranked 89th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Columbia Central was led to victory by Kayla Crawford and Anaya Mulholland. Crawford scored nine points, while Mulholland scored nine points. Saviya Morgan was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Columbia Central's victory bumped their record up to 13-1. As for Goodpasture Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.
Columbia Central will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Booker at 7:50 p.m. on December 27th. Hopefully Booker focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Thursday. Goodpasture Christian will finish 2023 at home by hosting Westwood at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Westwood's defense has only allowed 13.3 points per game this season, so Goodpasture Christian's offense will have their work cut out for Goodpasture Christian.
