Football Recap: James River Midlothian Takes a Loss

James River Midlothian lost against Powhatan back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Rapids took a 20-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Indians.

A big part of Powhatan's victory came down to the chemistry between Joshua Layman and his top target Ben Whitver. Layman threw for 234 yards and two TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes while Whitver picked up 147 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

James River Midlothian's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Powhatan, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-3.

James River Midlothian and Powhatan will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Rapids see the field they'll take on Richmond High School for the Arts at 7:30 p.m. on the 17th. As for Powhatan, their break will end when they face Huguenot at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
