Baseball Game Preview: St. Joseph Central Flyers vs. Green Bobcats

For the first time this season, St. Joseph Central will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Green Bobcats at 7:00 p.m.

Last Monday, St. Joseph Central came up short against Dawson-Bryant and fell 12-9.

Carson Lyons and Landon Rowe did some serious damage despite the final result: Lyons scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Rowe scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Blake Medinger, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Green challenged Clay on Wednesday. The Bobcats walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Panthers. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Landon Kimbler made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Mason Neal was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Blake Smith was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Green hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five strikeouts batters in three consecutive matchups.

St. Joseph Central dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Green, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
